"AUTHENTICITY IN THE MULTIPLE LANGUAGES IN THE TEXT IS MATCHED BY THE HEROIC DIALECT COACHING (IN ELEVEN TWISTING TONGUES) OF JOEL GOLDES."                                                                                           -- PLAYS INTERNATIONAL, 'PENTECOST'

I spent a late night at Sunset Gower Studios coaching for the break-out hit series Heroes last night. I'm sworn to secrecy as to what and whom I was coaching, but will reveal all after the new season begins....

I recently prepped English actress Julia Ormond by phone in her American accent for Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery. Julia first asked me to prepare a customized speech warm-up that she could do every day: I recorded this in my studio and emailed her the sound files. When she arrived in Toronto for filming, we went over all her lines by phone in the American accent. I then over-nighted her the cd recording of our session so she could review it as she films.

I recorded "scratch tracks," or temporary tracks for the animators, in Egyptian and Mexican accents for an episode of toddler TV favorite Dora the Explorer. JC, the recording engineer, complimented my preparation and the distinct and authentic sound for each accent. And I did the dialects by phone from the comfort of my office while they recorded my voice in Nickelodeon's New York studios.
